Terms of Service

Listing is a private, members-only network organized by neighborhood. Members text Listing what they are looking for or can offer. Listing uses automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to understand those messages, turn them into posts, look for other members whose needs match, and introduce two members only after both agree. Listing may also host pages, profiles and posts on the web.

Listing is a place where members find each other. We are not a party to any agreement, sale, rental, service or meeting between members, and we do not employ, endorse, screen or guarantee any member, item, property or service.

You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. Membership is by application and approval, at our sole discretion. Membership is personal to you, for one person, and tied to the neighborhood you were approved for. You must give accurate information and keep it current. You may hold one account.

You sign in with a code sent to your mobile number by our messaging provider (Twilio). You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your phone and codes secure. Tell us right away at [email protected] if you think your account has been used without permission.

The Service works largely by text message. The Listing text line currently works over iMessage, and sign-in codes arrive by SMS. By signing in with your number or texting Listing, you consent to receive automated texts from Listing as described in our SMS & Messaging Terms, including sign-in codes, application updates, replies to your messages, match notices and introduction requests. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop all texts; reply HELP for help. Because the Service is delivered by text, stopping texts stops most of the Service until you reply START.

Most messages you receive from Listing are written by automated systems, including AI models provided by third parties. They can be wrong, incomplete or misunderstand you. Check anything important before you rely on it. Nothing Listing sends is legal, financial, medical, real estate or other professional advice. You are responsible for what you decide and do, including any deal or meeting with another member.

Listing introduces you to another member only after you both say yes. When you both say yes, the other member sees your first name, your post, and only the contact details you’ve chosen to share in your settings. Until you choose, none are shared. Listing can pass messages between you without sharing either person’s contact details. What happens after an introduction is between the two of you.

You own what you send and post: messages, photos, links, descriptions, profile details and answers (“Your Content”). You give Listing a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, adapt, display and distribute Your Content to run, secure and improve the Service. That includes creating posts and pages from your messages, showing your posts to other members, and, where a post’s settings allow, showing it publicly on the web. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other members already received and backups kept for a limited time.

You confirm you have the right to share Your Content and that it is accurate and lawful. We do not use Your Content to train AI models. AI providers, including Anthropic and OpenAI, and others under the same restrictions, process messages to run the Service and may not use them to train their general models.

A post’s visibility follows its settings and your neighborhood’s rules. Some posts and pages may be public on the web and indexed by search engines. Page owners can see submissions and subscriber details sent to their page. You can pause or delete your posts at any time by texting Listing or from your account.

You agree not to:

• break any law, including fair housing, employment, consumer protection and privacy laws;
• discriminate against anyone based on a protected characteristic, including in housing or job posts;
• offer or seek illegal goods or services, weapons, drugs, counterfeits or stolen property;
• harass, threaten, defame, impersonate or mislead anyone;
• spam members, send unsolicited marketing, or use introductions to recruit for other platforms;
• post content you don’t have rights to, or anyone else’s private information;
• scrape, reverse engineer, overload or probe the Service, or use it to build a competing product or train AI models;
• create fake accounts or share your account.

We may remove content, pause or deny introductions, and suspend or end accounts that break these rules, at our discretion.

Use judgment when dealing with other members. Meet in public places, don’t send money to people you haven’t met, and verify property and items in person. Report problems to [email protected]. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release Listing from claims arising from your dealings with other members.

Membership is currently free. Some features, such as page subscriptions, may be paid. Prices are shown before you pay, payments are processed by Stripe, and fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We will give at least 30 days’ notice before charging for something that is free today.

The Service, its design, software and brand belong to Listing Systems LLC. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service under these Terms. Feedback you send us may be used without obligation to you.

You can delete your account at any time in Settings, Account. We may suspend or end your access for any breach of these Terms or to protect members. Sections that by their nature should survive will survive.

You agree to indemnify Listing against claims arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, your dealings with other members, or your breach of these Terms.

Contact us at [email protected] first; we’ll try to resolve any dispute informally within 60 days. If we can’t, any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. You may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court. You and Listing waive any right to a jury trial or to take part in a class, collective or representative action. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms. These Terms are governed by Delaware law and the Federal Arbitration Act.

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give notice by text or email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms.

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Listing about the Service. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. You may not assign these Terms; we may.
